Just recently, I've found myself gravitating towards nail polish, a lot more then I used to. I have concluded this is because, after (what feels like years of trying.) My nails finally look decent, enough to paint. Until I get nervous that is! I don't really know why, but my nails aren't very strong. They are soft and tend to break easily. So I try my best to protect them.

Anyhoo, I digress. Recently Rimmel released salon pro. Which I have a teeny-tiney  collection of and I love it. But that's for another post I guess. 

Anyway I was in boots, and they happened to have the Barry M gelly polishes on offer. Which was a nice surprise, as I'd been hearing a lot of people, sing their parses about it. & usually when that happens I can never find the product. So I was really excited to give these a try.

Being so impressed by rimmels salon pro, I figured why not give these a whirl.

I purchased two colours. Papaya (picture on the right.) which is a really nice corally orange & prickly pear, (Pictured on the left.) Which I would liken too a lilac.

What drew me to the polishes, most was the promise of a 'high shine' finish. With a 'chip resistant formula.' I cannot deny, I think that the colour range is very eye catching. They both have a nice shine finish, to them. 

However, not in one coat like Barry M claims. After applying a base a coat, I would say both colours require 2 coats. But I feel that even with a top coat, they  still chip pretty easily. 

All in all, there good, but I was a little disappointed with the quality.    

Leopard print Nail Wraps

I recently wrote a gleaming post about an avon leave in conditioner. That a friend let me try out. Along with the conditioner I also purchased some leopard print nail wraps. (I couldn't help myself. sometimes leopard print is too hard to resist.)

I have tried nail wraps in the past, & if I'm honest I've never really been bold over with them. I have often found the application too fiddly. Either the wraps are to sticky or they fall apart while trying to apply them. & more often than not, they fall off within a day or so. 

So all in all, the horrible application process ends up being a pretty much, pointless endeavour. That ultimately tests my patients too the max! 

But I couldn't resist the design, so I thought  would take my chances. 

Anyhow they were fairly easy to apply. A word of warning, these are super sticky. But, I imagine that to be the reason why, they have lasted for over 2 weeks. So I was super chuffed! None of them flaked off or faded, while I was in the shower.

They look really pretty. I would defiantly repurchase these again. & if like me, you had reservations about trying nail wraps. These are defiantly worth a try & don't break the bank either. 

Avon Daily Shine. Leave-In Conditioner

Just a quick post today. As the sun is shining & it's a waste to spend it cooped up indoors.

I recently ran out of one of my hair care staples, leave-in conditioner!

(Panic stations, I can tell you that!) 

Because I have quite thick, but fine hair. I tend to use leave-in conditioner as a detangler really. In the hope, that it will leave my hair soft & hopefully tame some of the fizz. 

By a stroke of luck, I bumped into a friend who happens to sell Avon. We got to talking, & she said she had some in the back of her car.

& the kind bean, that she is let me have a bottle to try for £1, bargain! 

I went home & tried it out immediately. I had my reservations at first. As I'm used to a creamy texture, type of conditioner. Whereas this one, was a little runnier, than the ones I am used to. 

I applied a small amount as you usually do. Just below my ears & at the ends of my hair.

& let me tell you. After application, I let my hair air-dry as usual. This leave-in conditioner is bloody marvellous! 

It worked well as a detangler while my hair was wet. After my hair had dried. It left my hair feeling super soft, & really manageable. & at a retail price of £1.50. I'm defiantly not complaining.  

EOS Lip Balm Review - Honeydew & Honeysuckle

I recently purchased this tiny wonder from amazon. It is the eos lip balm, in  honeysuckle & honeydew. I can certainly say I love it. Everyone loves a lip balm that actually leaves your lips feel moisturised. & the smell is frankly heavenly.

I had herd many good reviews from basically everyone & their mum on the old internet. So I thought I'd give it ago. The first thing, that initially drew me to the product was its spherical shape. & when you get to untwist the top from the lip balm, you are presented with a perfectly round ball. Good for all round application.

The second thing that drew me to the product, after some online perusal. Pre purchase, I should add. Is that all eos lip balms are in fact 95% organic & paraben and petrolatum free. 

On the back of my lip balm. To my delight it reads; "Packed with antioxidant-rich in vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth."

Which for me, is another big seller. Anything with the words; antioxidant, vitamin E, shea butter & jojoba oil. Is a definite must try in my book.

All in all, I really rate this product. It smells great, it has a lasting moisturiser. So you don't feel the need to re apply every 5mins. & it's round case means it fits into any handbag. I will defiantly be repurchasing this again. 

The only downside, that I am aware of. Is that because it isn't a very well known product in the UK, the price range does vary. So I did have to shop around a bit. Because knowing they sell for around 99cents in the USA. Meant that I defiantly wasn't going to pay £8.00 over here. But if you happen to see it for under £5 defiantly give it a whirl.

               

                

Keep your head up, keep your heart strong.

Life has been busy busy, laity with interviews & appointments.

Where I feel my life has been arranged by 'other' people into 30-40 minute slices. 

Which I spend most of my time in-between traveling, to & from. & preparing to meet people who the likely hood, of it is, I won't probably hear from them again. 

Because I have somehow failed to tick all the correct boxes. 

Despite my efforts to portray a cheerful exterior. I do find this process somewhat, disheartening. Because I feel like even though I try to do, my best, at interview 'prep'. I fail too see what qualities I can sometimes be lacking, when it comes too interviews. I'm polite, friendly, punctual, qualified. What more does anyone want? 

I feel like my life is slightly becoming a lesson in futility. 

And because, of how I'm feeling I'm finding it hard to stay positive. & keep motived with other aspects of my life.

However the optimist, in me say's, that I shouldn't feel despondent. Just because one door, hasn't opened for me. Maybe that means there maybe a better suited door, awaiting me. Who knows. 

How to combat a Wet Weekend

I don't know about you, but most weekend's I have "thing's" to do. Which means my weekends usually fly by. & sometimes, like this week, I have had quite a busy week. To wake up & realise it's saturday, & I have nothing to do…

But this weekend happens to be a wet weekend & I feel at a bit of a loose end. So here are some of the things I tend to do, on a wet weekend when I'm a little short on funds.

1. DIY projects;

Sometimes, there's nothing nicer than undertaking little DIY projects. I often like to take little things I already own. Candle holders, cushions, cups, & making them my own, by adding transfers. Or pieces of material to cushions. 

Or perhaps you could use the time to take up a new hobby, you've been wanting to give a try. 

2. Pamper day's;

Pamper day's, are sometimes just what the doctor ordered. Using up a face mask you've been saving. Taking the time to shape & paint you're nails. Treating your hair to a hair mask. Or enjoying a relaxing bath bomb.

3. Home Movie day's;

I feel like a home movie day, can sometimes be a guilty pleasure of mine. Having a PJ day, under the duvet while the rain hammers against the window. There's nothing nicer. Plus, I feel I rarely get enough time, to fully enjoy a film, without being interrupted. Which means I usually give up, about half the way through. Because I loose patients. (Naughty, me I know.)

4. Expand you're baking skills;

It's nice when you get some free time, to try out a new recipe or 2. That you've been meaning to try for a while. Or if you're like me, & have been trying to be good, it's a good excuse to bake yourself a well deserved treat.

5. Get your reading glasses out;

 I will confess, that I am an avid reader. & I enjoy getting stuck into a book. & I find there's no better time, to start a new book, then when there's piece & quiet. With a nice hot cup of tea. When it's raining. I find it so relaxing. & it makes you appreciate all the little home comforts, you have too hand.

How to;

Hey Guy's, I've recently discovered a new easy updo! Exciting hey? Glad you agree…

I don't know about you, but I love quick & easy updo's. I don't like too faff. & I loose my patients with something, that takes a million booby pins. & probably ends up, falling out mid-way through my day. I just can't be doing with it.

 I have stuff to do, people too see. What I do like, is an updo that takes no time at all, but looks like you made a bit of an effort. & this is one of those little beauties. Good for lunch with the girls, interviews, family do's, etc..

So what you will need is;

1 hair band.

A few bobby pins, I've got 3-4 for good measure.

and some hair spray.

This updo does depend on the length of you're hair. Depending on how many times you need to tuck. But once, you've done it a couple of times, it gets easier. So here we go...

Firstly you need to bring all your hair into a ponytail like so..

You want, you're ponytail in the middle of you're head. Secure it, loosely with a hair band. Just above, where the hair band rest's, create a hole.

Twist you're ponytail, & tuck through the hole. 

Repeat this process, 2-3 times depending on the length of you're hair.

Pin if necessary. when you get the hang of it, it takes no time at all. & if you're feeling fancy, you could add some braid's or twist's at the front.
  & Voila ....
